’ is the very first album from Irelands newest on stage duetting partnership on the Country & Irish music scene, Thomas Maguire and Fhiona Ennis.
‘Promised To John’ was their very first single released in March 2005 and due to its popular radio play, subsequently led to requests from
promoters to have Fhiona appear as a special guest on Thomas’ shows to perform the duet. Due to the great success of these guest appearances it was decided that Fhiona should join forces with Thomas and the band on a full time basis.
Before teaming up with Thomas, Fhiona Ennis from Ballymurn, Co Wexford has enjoyed great success with her own solo career having fronted her own five piece band under the management of Hugh O’Brien. In that period she toured with USA singer/songwriter legend Leona Williams and Moe Bandy as part of their Irish schedules. Fhiona also joined Leona in Nashville for some concerts during the CMA festival 2005 including a live broadcast on The legendary Ernest Tubb’s Midnight Jamboree Radio Show. Fhiona has recently been voted ‘Best Female Newcomer’ at both the recent ‘Radio Star’ and ‘Country & Irish Entertainment Magazine’ award shows.
Thomas who hails from Irvinestown, Co Fermanagh served his musical apprenticeship on the London entertainment scene before returning to Ireland in 2000 after being voted Best Act on the London Circuit at The Irish World Millennium Awards in the famous Galtymore. Now in his sixth year on the road with his band under the management of Henry Mc Mahon, Thomas has picked up numerous awards for his contribution to country music including ‘Personality Of The Year 2005’ at the very recent ‘Country & Irish Entertainment Magazine’ awards at The Setanta Hotel, Celbridge, Co Kildare. Thomas is also no stranger to our television screens having appeared on RTE, BBC and TG4 television. On this brand new 14 track album ‘Promised To John,’ Fhiona and Thomas have successfully blended themselves the perfect mix of Country and Irish music, containing songs by top composers such as Johnny Cash who penned ‘I Still Miss Someone’ and ‘The Ballad Of Henry Ford’ composed by their manager Henry McMahon. Other gems on this collection include ‘Lovin’ You Lovin’ Me’, a ‘Big Tom Medley’, ‘Don’t Cheat In Our Hometown’ and ‘My Darling Girl Eadaoin’ from the pen of Limerick man Jim Connery, along with their current single ‘Two Steppin’ Fun Song’. Also featured on this album is Thomas’ popular festive song ‘It’s So Close To Christmas’ written by the Bellamy Brothers.
